MAKITA 18V DGA513Z FAQs

What does "Body Only" or "Bare Unit" mean?

A "Body Only" or "Bare Unit" tool is supplied without batteries, a charger, or a carry case. This is best for buyers who already own compatible Makita 18V LXT or 40V XGT batteries and want to expand their kit without paying for redundant chargers.

Which batteries are compatible with these grinders?

The 18V models (DGA467Z, DGA517Z, DGA513Z, DMC300Z) are fully compatible with all Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries (from 1.5Ah to 6.0Ah). The 40V model (GA012GZ) requires the Makita 40V Max XGT battery platform. LXT and XGT batteries are not interchangeable.

Is a paddle switch better than a slide switch?

Paddle switches (featured on DGA467Z and DGA517Z) act as a "dead-man" safety feature; if you drop the grinder, the switch releases and the motor stops immediately. Slide switches (featured on the DGA513Z) lock into the "on" position, which is better for sustained, fatigue-free grinding over long periods.

Are the grinding discs included?

No, these bare unit grinders do not include standard cutting or grinding discs in the box. You will need to purchase the correct 76mm, 115mm, or 125mm wheels separately based on your specific material (metal, masonry, or tile).
